The Philadelphia 76ers needed a superhuman performance from Joel Embiid to defeat the Boston Celtics at home on Tuesday night. 103-101. The big fella had one helluva night, going for 52 points on 20-for-25 shooting, 13 rebounds and six assists in the win.
Embiid is averaging 33.3 points, which leads the league in scoring, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while shooting 54.7% from the floor. He is having an MVP-caliber season. As the season winds down, it’s hard to justify not giving him the award.
Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, who has always been a supporter of Embiid and what he brings to the table, proclaimed the big fella should be MVP after the big performance against the Celtics.
Upon hearing Joel Embiid put a 50 burger on the Celtics, Jimmy Butler: “Joel’s the MVP. He should’ve been MVP last year too.”

Butler and the Heat will visit Embiid and the Sixers on Thursday looking to continue their pursuit of a playoff spot. After being the No. 1 seed in the 2022 playoffs, Miami is struggling to make the playoffs in 2023. They are currently in seventh place and would be relegated to the play-in tournament if the season ended today.
