If you have ever wondered why so many players praise Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin as a leader of men, the video below courtesy of the team’s site should offer some insight.
Tomlin addressed the team during the team’s mandatory minicamp this past week and laid things very clearly about how he expects to build a successful team and that falls on him and the coaching staff.
One of the things Tomlin was very clear about is the role of himself and his coaches to make very clear what the goals and expectations are. As Tomlin put it, “it’s important I give you the answers to the test” meaning if he doesn’t lay out what is expected of players, he cannot wonder why they aren’t being as successful as he hoped.
Expectations for this team remain high despite the changing of the guard at quarterback. If anything, the absence of Ben Roethlisberger puts the onus squarely on Tomlin and his staff to elevate the play of the rest of the roster.
"A great environment produces individual great days and collective great days.”
