Hayden Hurst a surprise addition to injury report before AFC title game

The Bengals TE was a new name on the injury report before the showdown with the Chiefs.

Things got a little interesting for the Cincinnati Bengals on the Thursday injury report before Sunday’s AFC title game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

While much of the spotlight hinged on offensive linemen Alex Cappa and Jonah Williams, it was a sudden appearance of tight end Hayden Hurst on the sheet that turned heads.

Per the Thursday injury report, Hurst was limited in practice due to a calf injury.

Maybe it’s nothing but a mixture of precaution and rest. But a calf issue earlier this season cost Hurst a few games and the majority of the early December win over these very same Chiefs.

We’ll know more about Hurst on the final injury report Friday, but the Bengals badly need their top tight end to be full-go over the middle as they compensate for a struggling line.

Cappa and Williams, for what it’s worth, didn’t practice and Bengals head coach Zac Taylor still wouldn’t rule them out.
