- Hawaii went 10-5 last season, averaging 33.9 points per game while yielding 31.9. Fresno State went just 4-8 last year, after going a combined 22-6 over 2017-18. In 2019, Fresno State averaged 30.0 points per game while allowing 30.1. The Bulldogs defeated the Rainbow Warriors 41-38 Nov. 2 and own a 17-15-1 edge in the all-time series.
- Former Arizona State head coach Todd Graham is Hawaii’s new sideline boss. Graham inherits an offense with a new starting quarterback (sophomore Chevan Cordeiro, who threw eight touchdown passes in 120 attempts as a freshman), and it’s a group which is also replacing three of its top four receivers from 2019. Hawaii threw for 337.1 yards per game last season (fifth in FBS) and has ranked in the top 10 of the nation in that category each of the last two years.
- Kalen DeBoer replaces Jeff Tedford as head coach for the Bulldogs. Look for the former Bulldogs offensive coordinator (2017-18) to reestablish the Bulldogs as a solid running team that plays shutdown defense. Fresno had a lot of game-control wins by holding foes under 16.0 PPG over 2017-18.
