Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been linked to numerous teams in the NFL, including the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions and Washington Redskins ahead of next month’s draft.
Of all the aforementioned teams, the one who should have the first opportunity to draft the 2018 Heisman-finalist is Washington, who currently holds the No. 2 overall pick.
The Redskins have been predicted to select the Crimson Tide product by several mock drafts, and it appears that the team’s decision has been narrowed down to Tagovailoa and Ohio State Star defensive end, Chase Young.
However, that decision may have already been made, as it was reported on Monday that Washington has traded for Panthers’ backup quarterback Kyle Allen.
Kyle Allen has been traded to the #Redskins, per a source. Another QB alongside Dwayne Haskins.

Allen, who is entering his third year in the NFL, played in 13 games in 2019 for Carolina after starter Cam Newton went down with yet another injury.
The former Texas A&M and Houston signal-caller also has familiarity with new Washington head coach Ron Rivera, who was the head coach of the Panthers last season.
As of right now, it should be expected that Allen will serve in a backup role to Washington’s 2019 first-round pick, Dwayne Haskins.
ESPN’s John Keim reported that Washington was looking to stick with Haskins and simply wanted to add depth, which is where Allen enters the equation.
This doesn’t completely rule out the possibility that they draft Tagovailoa at No. 2, but it certainly makes it seem like they have made their pick for the franchise’s future under center.
