On Tuesday, the PFL announced the signing of Alsaif, making the 22-year-old muay Thai specialist the first Saudi Arabia-born female to join a major MMA promotion.

She is expected to make her amateur debut with the PFL before the end of the year.

“Receiving a contract from the PFL is a dream come true,” Alsaif said in a statement. “As the first Saudi woman signed to a global MMA contract, I do not take the responsibility lightly, and I am committed to representing my country. I hope to pave the way for aspiring female fighters. I am thankful to God and the PFL for this incredible opportunity.”

Alsaif won gold at the 2023 International Federation of Muay Thai Associations World Championships, where she was also named Breakthrough Female Athlete of the tournament. She also took first at the World Combat Games and Saudi Games.

“We are thrilled to welcome Hattan Alsaif, a truly groundbreaking athlete to the PFL,” PFL president Ray Sefo said in a statement.
