Has Nelson Agholor played his last game with the Eagles?

With a knee injury that has kept him out of practice and four straight games, Nelson Agholor’s career with the Eagles could be over

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and they could be down to their final two healthy wide receivers. JJ Arcega-Whiteside was just added to the injury report with a foot injury, but the biggest question surrounds the status of Nelson Agholor.

Agholor has missed 8 straight practices and missed the last two games with a knee injury, and it is uncertain if he will play in Sunday’s matchup versus the Cowboys.

Agholor is dealing with a badly swollen knee, and the Eagles could decide to shut him down for the remainder of the regular season and look towards practice squad players Marcus Green, Marken Michel and or Deontay Burnett to fill his spot.

The question now has to be asked, has Agholor played his last game in an Eagles uniform?

Agholor was selected by the Eagles in the first round with the 20th overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft. Agholor had 23 catches for 283 receiving yards and a touchdown as a rookie. In his third season, he made a decent jump, catching 62 balls for 768 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Agholor has regressed ever since, and only has 36 catches on the season, with plenty of huge drops to go around.

The Eagles have been patient with Agholor, picking up his $9.4 million fifth-year option in 2018. After his struggles last season, the Eagles had until the start of the 2019 league year in March to release or trade him without penalty, but they gave him a vote of confidence, even after drafting JJ Arcega-Whiteside.

Agholor’s numbers are down across the board, and with the pressure to perform without DeSean Jackson or Alshon Jeffery, the former USC star has looked lost while struggling to define his identity and play through injuries.

With the Eagles likely to draft a wide receiver early in 2020 and Agholor set to become an unrestricted free agent, he’s likely played his last game in Philadelphia.
