LeBron James is still playing at a very high level at age 38 and in his 20th season, but, naturally, everyone wants to know what the next few years will hold for him.
He has two more years left on his Los Angeles Lakers contract, with the 2024-25 season being an option year. That also happens to be the earliest season his son Bronny will be eligible to enter the NBA.
The younger James is in his senior season at Sierra Canyon School. While he has been described as a solid prospect with potential, many believe there is nothing special about him. That could always change over the next 18 months or so.
The elder James has said for a while that his goal is to play on the same NBA team as his son. However, in an interview with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin on Friday, he appeared to ease that stance a bit.
Via ESPN:
“Either in the same uniform or a matchup against him. I don’t mean like (guarding one another all game) — because he’s a point guard and I’m a, at this point now I’m playing center or whatever the team needs from me,” James said. “But I would love to do the whole Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. thing. That would be ideal for sure.”
For now, however, the elder James seems very focused on the task at hand, which is making the Lakers back into a championship team, however daunting it may seem right now.
