Harrison Ingram named top transfer in ACC

UNC Basketball forward Harrison Ingram was named the top transfer in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are looking to get back on track after what happened last season when they missed the NCAA Tournament. Entering that season, the Tar Heels were the No. 1 team in the nation and as the year went on, it was clear that they were going to struggle.

Now, going into this season things are a little different.

UNC is a Top 20 team but they aren’t No. 1 and don’t have the expectations like they did last season. It will also be a new-look team as the had to navigate the transfer portal with additions and losses.

One of those additions is former Stanford forward Harrison Ingram, a player UNC recruited out of high school and eventually landed now through the portal. And Ingram has earned some praise this offseason, most recently being named the top transfer in the ACC by On3.

Here is what Jamie Shaw wrote on Ingram:

The Buzz: The luxury of Harrison Ingram is you can do a lot of things with him. As a three or a four, his best attribute might be his initiation. This could help alongside a young point guard (Elliot Cadeau) and an adept scoring guard (RJ Davis). Ingram has always been at his best with the ball in his hands and making decisions. Ingram is a smart defender; he understands angles and help side. If he is to play some four, you want to see some switchability from him, which he is capable of. He has a strong frame and good length. Ingram is an intriguing piece with versatility and unselfish play. This is a big year for UNC and head coach Hubert Davis. They built a roster for this season that, on paper, fits. For them to meet expectations and get the Tar Heels back on track, Ingram will need to be good. Not necessarily the star but the piece that connects the stars together.

Ingram is going to be a key piece for the Tar Heels this season, giving them another scoring option in their starting lineup to go with Armando Bacot and R.J. Davis.
