With each passing game, Harold Landry is making himself more valuable to the Tennessee Titans. The impending free agent collected another sack in the dominant 27-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, bringing his total up to 7.5.
As a group, the Titans sacked Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes four times and now have seven sacks over their last two games.
“It is awesome,” Landry said after the game. “We just know what we are capable of on the defensive side of the ball. We just have so much belief and confidence that we are capable of what we put out there. Just have to keep doing what we are doing. That performance out there could be more consistent.”
The Titans have emerged as contenders in the AFC after an embarrassing loss to the New York Jets in Week 4. Since then, Tennessee has ripped off three consecutive wins, including victories over the Buffalo Bills and Chiefs in back-to-back weeks.

The national media didn’t give the Titans much of a chance against either team, but they have the National Football League on notice now.
“That was the message this week to prove that it was not just a one-off thing, and we are a team to be reckoned with every single week,” Landry added. “If we go out there and play our brand of football, we have a great chance to win.”
The Boston College product has been a big reason why the Titans’ defense has been able to apply pressure to opposing quarterbacks.
After recording 5.5 sacks last season, Landry is now just 1.5 sacks shy of tying his career high of 9.
Furthermore, the former second-round pick is second in the league in sacks, tied for second in quarterback pressures (40), tied for sixth in quarterback hits (seven), and tied for the lead in quarterback hurries (25).
After hovering near the bottom of the league in sacks last season, the Titans’ defense is now a top-10 unit with 17, two fewer than it had in all of 2020.
Other players like Denico Autry, Ola Adeniyi, and Jeffery Simmons have found success in the pass rush as well — and Bud Dupree finally got on the board on Sunday with his first sack as a Titan — making it more difficult for coaches to game plan solely for Landry.
“I feel like we played defense today just together,” Landry concluded of the Titans’ defensive performance. “I feel like the back end was covering awesome and I feel like we were rushing relentlessly. That was one of the keys of the game for us on defense was to rush relentless. Everyone just did their part and it worked out.”
Landry and the Titans will travel to Indianapolis in Week 8 for a rematch against the Colts. He tallied a half of a sack in the pair’s first meeting.
