Halftime Takeaways: Can the Gators catch up with the Gamecocks?

Florida is down big against South Carolina at halftime even though the Gators entered the game as 20-point favorites.

Florida’s matchup with South Carolina is not going at all as expected with the Gators trailing 30-10 at halftime.

Anthony Richardson is back in the emergency backup role after sustaining a concussion against Georgia, which means Emory Jones is back starting for Florida. Despite being down some offensive weapons, Jones started heaving the ball downfield early for the Gators. He found Justin Shorter a number of times but had mixed results with the rest of the offense.

The defense has once again collapsed and is unable to stop South Carolina. Early, the Gamecock had success running the ball, and later they found the first bit of success all season at quarterback. A scoop and score fumble recovery capped things off, and Florida is down big at halftime.
