The Texas Longhorns have found life in the passing game against the Baylor Bears.
Simultaneously, Baylor is picking apart Pete Kwiatkowski’s defense through the air.
For the first time in weeks, Texas is getting production from the quarterback position. The offense is taking off.
The Longhorns offense got off to a rocky start. An intentional grounding penalty on Quinn Ewers in the end zone helped Baylor to a 9-0 lead.
A visible sideline rebuke from Steve Sarkisian knocked Ewers out of his funk. Texas followed the scolding with 14 unanswered points on chunk plays in the passing game.
An injury to left guard Cole Hutson effectively ended offensive momentum.
Ewers finished the half 5-for-8 with 111 yards passing. Two incompletions were catchable passes while one was an intentional throwaway.
Since the offensive resurgence, the Texas defense has been a turnstile against the Baylor aerial attack.
Blake Shapen went 12-for-20 for 153 yards. His long went for 47 yards for a score.
The Longhorns will have plenty to figure out on both sides of the football to have a chance to win the game.
