Gus Johnson plus Kyler Murray equals perfection

Kyler Murray delivered an electric moment for the Arizona Cardinals. We should have known something like this was coming with Gus Johnson on the call.

We should have known the Arizona Cardinals game against the Minnesota Vikings was going to make for enticing television.

Gus Johnson is on the call.

Incredible, indelible moments tend to follow the exuberant broadcaster everywhere he goes. Take yesterday’s renewal of the storied rivalry between Oklahoma and Nebraska. When Sooners defensive back D.J. Graham turned in the interception of the year — with the game hanging in the balance — of course it was Johnson in the booth losing his mind, like the rest of us watching at home:

Well, fast-forward to Sunday. Johnson made the trip to Arizona to be on the call for the Vikings-Cardinals tilt, with former NFL defensive back Aqib Talib alongside him in the booth. We should have known a similar moment would be following him to the desert.

Enter Kyler Murray:

Murray somehow evades the pressure and finds rookie Rondale Moore alone for the long touchdown, to give the Cardinals the lead. Arizona had trailed by 13 earlier, but this electric moment puts the home team in the lead late in the first half.

And, as he did earlier in the weekend, Johnson lost his mind in the booth.

Given that the venerable play-by-play man is still on the call for this one, the electric moments might not be done for the afternoon in the desert.
