A letter titled #CSUUnited sent out.

There is a lot going on at Colorado State this week and none of it is good news. First, there were allegations of not following protocol related to COVID-19 which is being looked into, and then the latest was racial allegations within the football program which is also being looked into.

The latest comes from a group of players who have written a letter in support of Colorado State head coach Steve Addazio with this #CSUUnited letter backing the new staff.

“To be absolutely clear, we have not experienced any racially insensitive comments to our teammates from the athletic department or coaching staff,” the letter said. “This football team has matured and positively developed since Coach Addazio’s arrival.”

While there are a good number with seemingly 25-plus from retweets on Twitter and that could be more since not everyone lives on Twitter. However, there is a discrepancy in who is tweeting out support when it comes to this #CSUunited letter.

According to ESPN, this letter does not have the full support of the team.

Also, it can be true that some players very well could have been on the receiving end of some sort of racial abuse or threats against playing time for not following COVID-19 protocol, and it can be true that players are saying everything is fine and back the coaching staff.

With a big team sport like football, position groups likely are around each other more often compared to others on the team with a different experience with the football team. The experience is not the same for everyone.

This is why an investigation is needed to figure out what is going on at Colorado State in regards to these allegations that surround safety within COVID-19 and the latest allegations on racial abuse.
