Gridiron Heights predicted Pete Carroll’s reluctance to rebuild in Seattle

Gridiron Heights is predicting NFL events following the Bears’ attempted trade for Seahawks QB Russell Wilson.

We’ve all heard of the Simpsons predicting future events in the country, but now can we say Gridiron Heights is doing the same for the NFL following the Bears attempted trade for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson?

On Wednesday morning, multiple reports came out saying the Bears gave it everything they had to acquire Wilson, who has been a top target for the team over the last few weeks before they signed quarterback Andy Dalton to a one-year deal.

In the end, however, it wasn’t enough as Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll ultimately put the brakes on any deal, saying the team was not going to rebuild with a different quarterback. Funny enough, Gridiron Heights had him saying that exact same thing nearly three years ago.

Gridiron Heights is a popular animated series from Bleacher Report that runs weekly 60-second episodes during the NFL season. The premise is that all NFL teams live in a suburb called “Gridiron Heights” and each episode recaps the landscape of the league after each game.

In 2018, the season opener focused on rebuilding after the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, where Carroll was shown adamantly saying he would not take part.

“Yeah, we’re not rebuilding,” Carroll says to cornerback Richard Sherman as Wilson is trying to put a broken house back together while he chews his gum. “Yeah, no, nothing’s changed. We’re still really good.”

This was in response to the Seahawks missing the postseason for the first time with Wilson under center.

Of course, some references and players in the episode haven’t aged as well, such as former first-round quarterback Josh Rosen getting a ton of airtime when he hasn’t played a down since 2019. But just like the Simpsons, there’s apparently a clip from Gridiron Heights for everything it seems.
