Former Auburn Tigers quarterback [autotag]Bo Nix[/autotag] left the program after the 2021 season to pursue an opportunity to play for the Oregon Ducks.
The decision turned out to be beneficial to Nix’s career. He prospered during his first season in the Pac-12 Conference.
Nix went 294-409 for 3,593 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions, two of which came during the Ducks’ 49-3 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the first week of the season. The Pinson, Alabama, native also rushed for 510 yards and 14 touchdowns on 89 carries.
Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy appeared on “Always College Football” last week and commented about the former Tiger.
“I really believe that the Auburn Bo Nix is not the Oregon Bo Nix,” McElroy said. “Two very different players. He’s more confident and I thought he looked really comfortable last year when healthy, but did get a little banged up toward the end of the year.”
McElroy is concerned about Nix’s ability to perform without Kenny Dillingham as his offensive coordinator. Dillingham, who was Nix’s offensive coordinator during his first season at Auburn, took the head coach position at Arizona State.
“Kenny Dillingham is now the head coach at Arizona State, he was formerly the offensive coordinator of the Oregon Ducks,” McElroy said. “Coordinator change is a big question mark. I mean, will Bo Nix continue to play at a really high level? Last year he was off the charts. His first couple of years in school, not quite as efficient.”
Time will tell if Nix can get the job done with a different coordinator or if Dillingham made that big of a difference.
