Forgive Aaron Rodgers if he doesn’t love what the Green Bay Packers did in the first round Thursday.
The Packers traded up with the Miami Dolphins for the 26h pick. And with the selection the Packers picked up, they picked a quarterback. Jordan Love of Utah State was their choice.
And by trading up to draft Utah St. QB Jordan Love, the Green Bay Packers put 36-year-old Aaron Rodgers on the clock.

When Rodgers was taken in the first round, 24th overall, in 2005, the Packers had a franchise ensconced at quarterback. His name was Brett Favre and he was about to turn 36 years old.
Rodgers happens to be 36 and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere, much the same way Favre was 15 years ago.
Aaron Rodgers on @PatMcAfeeShow: "We haven't picked a skill player in the first round in 15 years, so that would be kind of cool."
Rodgers says whoever the pick is, he'll track down his phone number and welcome him to the team tonight — if the Packers don't trade out.

Rodgers sat for three seasons before the Packers decided it was time to move on from Favre. That led to the circus of threatened retirements and returns by Favre, who eventually was dealt to the New York Jets.
The Packers can’t realistically move on from Rodgers until 2022 because of cap implications. That is a fair guess for when Jordan Love gets his chance.

Love played three years for Utah State. He threw for 8,600 yards and 60 touchdowns. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Love will be 22 in November, the same age Rodgers was when he landed in Green Bay.
