Grant Williams vows to dye his hair pink if 3 Celtics become All-Stars

The Celtics rookie made a bold promise if three of his teammates earn a trip to the NBA All-Star Game next month in Chicago.

Grant Williams didn’t major in public relations during his time at the University of Tennessee but the Boston Celtics rookie did his best impression of it on Monday night.

Williams recorded 11 points for just his fourth double-digit scoring performance of the season but the first-round pick only wanted to talk about his teammates following the 113-101 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Prior to addressing questions about his individual performance, Williams pulled out three illustrations showing the strong seasons that teammates Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker are having.

Williams wrapped up his speech by vowing to dye his hair pink for one month should the trio of players each earn a trip to the All-Star Game next month in Chicago.

“If all three of them make it, I will be dyeing my hair pink for a month,” Williams said. “So, fans, please vote for Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum. Go to Celtics.com/vote and you can do it directly.”

Though all three are having solid seasons with the Celtics, the trio needs some help in the fan voting to be among the starters in the Eastern Conference.

Walker is third among all backcourt players with 1,331,577 votes through the second fan returns released last Thursday. Brown is seventh with 544,361 votes while Tatum is fifth in the frontcourt with 1,182,663 total votes.

The 10 starters for the All-Star Game will be announced on Jan. 23 as fans account for 50% of the vote while a panel of media members and all current players make up the other 50% of the votes. The 30 NBA head coaches will select the reserve players, which will be announced on Jan. 30.

The NBA All-Star Game is set to take place on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
