DALLAS — Former University of Tennessee basketball player Grant Williams scored seven points Wednesday night in the Boston Celtics’ 109-103 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

Williams played 24 minutes and had three rebounds and two assists for Boston (18-7).

He’s played 23 games for the Celtics in this, his rookie season, in the National Basketball Association. The former Vol is playing an average of 14.5 minutes per game and is averaging 2.3 points per contest. He’s also averaging 2.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game this year.

Williams, a 6-foot-6 power forward was a first-round pick by the Celtics in the 2019 NBA Draft. Boston chose him with the 22nd overall pick.

He had a career-high 10 points in Boston’s 104-102 victory over the New York Kicks on Nov. 1.
