HOUSTON — Former University of Tennessee basketball player and 2019 first-round draft pick Grant Williams has had a roller coaster ride of a rookie season for the Boston Celtics.
And that up-and-down campaign continued Tuesday night as the Celtics dropped a 116-105 decision to the Houston Rockets.
Williams, who left Big Orange Country as the two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year as a junior following the 2018-19 season, played just nine minutes against the Rockets in his last outing. He scored seven points and pulled down four rebounds, for the Celtics, who squandered a 49-47 halftime lead.
The win was just Houston’s sixth after leading at halftime. The Rockets are 6-11 when trailing at halftime this year.
Boston will host the Los Angeles Clippers Thursday night before taking some time off for the All-Star break.
