Former Tennessee forward Grant Williams checked in on his former team over the weekend as the No. 19 Volunteers hosted the No. 13 Memphis Tigers at Thompson-Boling Arena.
Williams and the Boston Celtics are in the midst of a five-day break in between games after last playing on Thursday night against the Philadelphia 76ers.
With Williams in attendance, the Volunteers lost to the Tigers, 51-47. Tennessee shot just 25% from the field in the matchup, including just 4-of-26 from beyond the arc, yet still had an opportunity to win.
Freshman guard Josiah-Jordan James led the Vols with 14 points while John Fulkerson added nine points. Meanwhile, projected first-round pick Precious Achiuwa had eight points and 13 rebounds for the Tigers.

Of course, Williams played three seasons in Knoxville and earned SEC Player of the Year honors twice. He was named a consensus All-American last year after averaging a career-high 18.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 37 games.
The Celtics return to action Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
