Grant Delpit carted off from Browns practice with leg injury

Initial reports indicate a possible Achilles tendon injury

Browns rookie safety Grant Delpit left Monday’s practice after suffering a lower leg injury. Delpit needed a cart to be removed and was seen grabbing at his lower left leg.

Initial reports indicate the team is concerned that Delpit suffered an Achilles injury. The Browns have not made any official statement to the reporters on hand in Cleveland as of press time.

Delpit has been getting steady work as the third safety, including work with the first-team as the “heavy nickel” package in Joe Woods’ defense. The Browns have deployed the three-safety, two-cornerback nickel look quite a bit in the first week of training camp.

Delpit is the team’s second-round pick out of LSU. He joins CB Kevin Johnson and LB Mack Wilson, both of whom got hurt in practices last week, among the defensive regulars sidelined with potentially serious injuries.
