‘Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy’ remasters officially announced, coming this year

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition has been officially announced. Remasters of the original games are coming this year.

Rockstar Games has finally teased and acknowledged the existence of the long-rumored GTA Trilogy remasters. According to a tweet from the official account, they’re “coming soon”.

The trilogy features GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas. According to leaks, these have been in development by Rockstar Dundee (formerly Ruffian Games) for a while, and have been updated with improved graphics.

Presumably, this Definitive Edition of the trilogy will also feature improved controls, considering how cumbersome the older GTA games are to play today. Either way, we can’t wait to step back into Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas again.

According to a post from Game Informer, each of the games has been updated with both visual and gameplay improvements, but that won’t impact the “classic look and feel” of the originals.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC later this year. It’s also coming to iOS and Android during the first half of 2022.

Existing versions of the three original games will be removed from online stores within the next week.
