Billy Napier and his team have one of the toughest schedules among Power Five schools this fall, so every win counts in what is expected to be another season of mediocrity in the Swamp.
However, Florida’s starting quarterback [autotag]Graham Mertz[/autotag] — who transferred from the Wisconsin Badgers this past offseason — has been perfectly acceptable in the most important role on offense.
Last week following the loss at the Kentucky Wildcats, the Gators signal-caller was ranked No. 10 in the Southeastern Conference out of 15 eligible quarterbacks. After the Vandy win, Mertz inched up to No. 9 — where he was a week prior to the UK defeat — with a QBR of 65.3, representing a modest improvement from a 64.7 QBR in the last update.
Next up for Florida is a trip to Columbia, South Carolina, to face Spencer Rattler and the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday, Oct. 14, inside William-Brice Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. EDT and the game can be watched on the SEC Network.
