Grady Jarrett receives extension from Falcons

One of Clemson’s former star defensive tackles just got paid big in the NFL.

After playing for Clemson from 2011 to 2014, Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett is receiving an extension for the second time in his career.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Jarrett is receiving a three-year extension that is worth up to $51 million, with $34.5 million guaranteed. The deal will lower Atlanta’s cap number for the 2022 season, freeing up room for a potential free-agent signing. Jarrett previously signed a four-year deal in 2019 and would have entered the final year of that deal this upcoming season.

In his four seasons with the Tigers, Jarrett recorded 80 tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. With the Falcons, he has been an instrumental part of their defensive front, racking up 59 total tackles in 2021.
