Grading the Texas A&M football team’s performance against McNeese State in Week 2

Texas A&M led 14-0 after the first period and 38-0 at halftime. The level of opponent is the only reason why the Aggies didn’t truly ace it.

The Texas A&M football team bounced back in a big way with a 52-10 victory against McNeese State on Saturday afternoon at Kyle Field.

While Conner Weigman may have struggled in the 23-13 season-opening loss against No. 19 Notre Dame, the Aggies (1-1) junior quarterback redeemed himself against the Cowboys, albeit in limited playing time due to the lopsided score. Weigman completed 11-of-14 passes for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns. He added 4 carries for 40 yards.

Texas A&M led 14-0 after the first quarter and 38-0 at halftime. Therefore, the Aggies earned a B+ for their dominant performance. The level of opponent is the only reason why Texas A&M didn’t truly ace it. However, it’s exactly what the Aggies needed to do after a lackluster showing versus the Fighting Irish.

Next up for Texas A&M is its SEC opener at Florida. The Gators (1-1) enter the conference contest with a similar résumé through two games. Florida lost 41-17 versus its bitter rival, No. 12 Miami, to begin the year. Then the Gators responded with a 45-7 win against Samford.

Kickoff at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville is scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on ABC.
