Well, the Pittsburgh Steelers got their man. And they got him without having to make a trade. It felt like the Steelers were going to have Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett snatched away from them multiple times with trades in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft but when they went on the clock with the No. 20 overall pick, The former Pitt star was waiting on them.

In fact, the Steelers have their pick of quarterbacks as Liberty quarterback Malik Willis was also still available. In the end it likely came down to familiarity, consistency and production giving Pickett the edge over the more athletic Willis.

The first round went down about as good as it could for the Steelers and if they wanted to find an eventual replacement for Ben Roethlisberger, Pickett was the much safer option.

But enough talk, let’s hand out a grade. This one is too easy. Not only did Pickett represent the best quarterback value on the board, but a case can also be made he represented the best player on the board at any position of need for the Steelers.

This pick gets an easy A for me. With a big run on receivers, this pick was a no-brainer and gives Pittsburgh a perfect quarterback situation for the upcoming season.
