Gordon Hayward out indefinitely with sprained ligaments in left ankle

The Hornets will be without their veteran leader for the foreseeable future.

As the All-Star break is right around the corner, the Hornets will surely need the rest.

Charlotte is currently on a six-game losing streak and have fallen to in the Eastern Conference. And losing Gordon Hayward to an ankle injury on Monday night against the Toronto Raptors sure didn’t help.

Hayward underwent an X-Ray and an MRI on Tuesday which revealed sprained ligaments in his left ankle, putting him out indefinitely, per Hornets PR.

Hayward suffered the injury in an awkward fall when Toronto’s Gary Trent Jr. rolled under the feet of Hayward as he landed after defending Trent Jr.’s layup attempt.

In 48 games this season, Hayward is averaging 16.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
