Gordon Hayward is ready for the 2021-22 NBA season but not before missing the majority of the preseason with COVID-19.
Hayward, alongside teammate Mason Plumlee, was placed in health and safety protocol on Oct. 6, missing the remaining three preseason games.
The 12-year veteran spoke to the media on Monday to discuss his time fighting COVID-19. “I was down for the count for a little while,” Hayward said. “The last two days have been really good as far as getting my cardio back, get my wind back. I think that’s going to be something I’ll have to work through here the first couple of weeks.”
It may take some time for Hayward to get back to himself and have his full wind under him but having him back with the team as the regular season kicks off is certainly promising.
The Hornets start their season at home on Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers.
