Minnesota fans who root for the local Division I and NFL teams got to see some very solid quarterback play in 2019.
Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 3,603 passing yards, 26 touchdown passes and six interceptions. His team went 10-6 in the regular season, beating the Saints in a playoff game.
Gophers quarterback Tanner Morgan also shined behind center and also led his team to success. Morgan threw for 3,253 passing yards, 30 touchdown passes and seven interceptions.
Recently, Morgan talked to Bob Sansevere, a columnist for the Pioneer Press. Here’s what Morgan said about Cousins:
“I’m a big fan of Kirk Cousins. I think some people give him hate he doesn’t deserve. More importantly, I love what he does off the field.”
Coincidentally enough, both quarterbacks will have to adjust to losing stellar wide receivers. The Gophers saw Tyler Johnson go after he tallied 1,318 receiving yards in his senior season. However, losing collegiate players is pretty common considering the tight window of eligibility each athlete has.
The Vikings, of course, lose Stefon Diggs, who was traded to the Bills this offseason. Diggs was Minnesota’s leading receiver with 1,130 yards.
Don’t worry, Minnesota. The Gophers still have wide receiver Rashod Bateman, and the Vikings still have Adam Thielen. And both teams have good quarterbacks.
