Golfer Sebastian Munoz astonishingly hit tee shot into a trash can, gave ball to a fan

Trash landing for a trash shot.

One of the more underrated aspects about golf tends to be that even objectively awful shots can find a way to be impressive.

It could be a fortuitous deflection off a tree or cart path — you never know what can happen when the ball leaves the tee.

But for Sebastian Munoz at Thursday’s opening round of the PGA Championship, he would have showed off incredible precision had he been aiming for a trash can off his tee shot. Unfortunately for him, he was not.

Still, I can’t help but be impressed with his shot on the par-4 18th finding its way into a trash can.

The fans in attendance certainly got a kick out of that too. Sure, Munoz didn’t want that to happen, but as far as bad shots go, that’s a pretty spectacular place for the ball to end up. A trash landing for a trash shot.

Munoz was a good sport about it, and he gave the ball to a fan. He’d save par on the hole.
