Tiger Woods was always going to be a long shot to repeat as Masters champion this year. Even after his impressive opening round had him in the hunt, he fell behind over the next two days, and would have needed a truly historic run on Sunday to catch up to leader Dustin Johnson.
The exact opposite happened on Sunday, with Woods struggling early, and then having an absolute meltdown on the par-3 12th hole, during which Woods hit three balls into the water on his way to scoring a 10.
The 12th hole is a 155-yard par 3. Woods needed 10 shots to get it in, and with that, his tournament was gone. It was the first ten of Woods’ professional career, and it was painful to watch.
