Golf fans miffed with limited final-round live TV coverage of Workday Charity Open

Weather forced the PGA Tour to move up the Workday final-round tee times on Sunday. Those changes also messed with the live TV schedule.

Weather messed with the second round of the PGA Tour’s Workday Charity Open on Friday, with two separate delays totaling almost 2 hours, 45 minutes.

Saturday was just fine but with an expectation of more weather Sunday afternoon, the Tour moved up the final-round tee times, with the leaders starting just after 9 a.m. ET.

These changes always disrupt the live television coverage and did so again this weekend.

The original plan was for Golf Channel to show live golf from 1-3 p.m. ET with CBS picking it up from there and having the 3-6 p.m. ET window.

Golf Channel and the NBC Sports Gold app did have live golf for two hours on Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. ET, but that was it. That’s when frustration set in for golf fans with no more live golf on TV right now.

Molly Solomon, Executive Producer for NBC Olympics and Golf Channel offered this explanation on Twitter:

“Golf Channel was live from 9-11 AM and CBS is currently streaming live coverage on multiple sites. They will have tape-delayed coverage at 3 PM. Golf Channel doesn’t have rights to current window.”

Chances are, whatever city you live in, you’re stuck with an infomercial on your local CBS affiliate and repeats of regular programming on Golf Channel.

But there are a couple options to stream it on your computer or your phone.

CBS has the live coverage available on cbsports.com. Typically, you’d need an account on CBS All Access to watch the live stream but CBS is making live golf available today without that.

You can also watch the Workday on a live stream on the CBS sports app.

In the 3-6 p.m. ET window on Sunday, CBS and CBS All Access will have a replay of the final round of the Workday. Prior to that, from 1-3 p.m. ET, Golf Channel will re-air what it showed during its 9-11 a.m. time slot.
