Glenn Robinson III says he was gaining comfort with Sixers, future uncertain

Philadelphia 76ers forward Glenn Robinson III discusses his future with the Sixers and the comfort he was beginning to gain with the team.

The unfortunate suspension of the NBA season due to the rapid spread of coronavirus has a lot of people stuck in an uncertain time. For some, it means not knowing when you’ll be back to work and for people entering free agency such as Philadelphia 76ers forward Glenn Robinson III, it means losing out on an opportunity to show your worth.

Robinson III was averaging a career-high 12.9 points with the Golden State Warriors while shooting 40% from deep before being sent to the Sixers at the deadline and it has been a little up and down for him. He has had his minutes drop from 31 in Golden State to just 18 in Philadelphia and it has affected his play as he is shooting just 28.6% from deep for the Sixers.

He joined Sixers Wire’s The Bell Ringer Podcast on Friday to discuss his beginning comfort with the Sixers and how the suspension will affect his free agency.

“I think that my last couple of games with the Sixers went pretty well in terms of just myself adjusting to the team,” he said. “I think that along with just playing with Golden State most of the year, I think up to this point, I’ve tried to prove myself and now if the season does continue, it’s about doing the same things and try to remain as consistent as possible and just give myself the best chance I can in this upcoming free agency.”

In the final four games for Philadelphia leading into the suspension, Robinson III averaged 11.8 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting a red hot 54.5% from deep. Those types of performances suggest that he was beginning to turn things around.

Whenever the season does resume, he will have an opportunity to help the Sixers go deep into the playoffs. The team needs a 3-and-D presence on the roster and while Matisse Thybulle will fill that role soon enough, a guy like Robinson III will be able to help right away.
