Glenn Robinson III reacts to career-high scoring night in loss to Lakers

Philadelphia 76ers forward Glenn Robinson III reacts to his career-high scoring effort against the Los Angeles Lakers.

It was another road loss for the Philadelphia 76ers as they fell to the Los Angeles Lakers 120-107, but it was a solid game for a team that was down three starters. It was another opportunity for others to step up and on Tuesday, it was Glenn Robinson III.

It had been a tough go at it for the veteran out of Michigan, he had missed his first 11 3-pointers for Philadelphia before finally knocking one down, but he had a breakthrough against the Lakers. He scored a career-high 25 points and he shot 10-for-15 from the floor while knocking down three from deep.

“Just continuing to stay confident,” he said afterward. “I’ve got some great teammates and they believe in me. They’ve seen what I can do and they just kept imploring and empowering me and just really, confidence. I kept my confidence and that’s all. I continued to believe in myself and just went out and gave it my all.”

For a guy shot 40% from deep with the Golden State Warriors before the trade, it felt good to finally have a few shots drop for him.

“It felt to good to see shots go down,” he said. “But at the end of the day, it’s a loss. When me and AB (Alec Burks) first got here, our goal was to help this team win. So we have to continue to figure out ways to do that, especially with guys out, but I’m still learning.”

This is all still a learning process for him. He started all 48 games for the Warriors and he was averaging over 30 minutes a night and now he is averaging roughly 15 minutes a night for Philadelphia. He was starting a few games, but he could not find a rhythm like he did coming off the bench on Tuesday.

“I just tried to get my rhythm early,” he explained. “I just tried to get going. I just remain confident in myself and I knew some shots would fall. I’m just going to continue to do the same thing.”

The Sixers will need more of this out of him when the team continues on the road trip. They head to Sacramento to face a hot Kings team so they will need more contributions from him and everybody else. [lawrence-related id=27039,27018,27011]
