It is never easy getting traded in the middle of the season, but that is something that Philadelphia 76ers forward Glenn Robinson III is adjusting to after being acquired from the Golden State Warriors at the deadline. The one thing that has helped him is that Alec Burks was included in the trade as well.
The two struck up a good friendship during their team in The Bay and the fact that they were both sent to Philadelphia in the deal helps Robinson III find a comfort zone.
“That’s is my guy,” he said after scoring a career-high 25 points on Tuesday. “We talk all the time. We watch film together, we talk about the game together, obviously with the whole move we stayed up in a hotel, so we’re always together. We really just kind of created that bond.”
Like Tobias Harris with Boban Marjanovic in the season before, a big trade can be soothed over when you have somebody you’re close with come with you. That bond can really help a guy make adjustments fairly quickly.
“It’s nice to have someone who’s going through the same thing,” Robinson III continued. “Even his daughter is exactly a year old than my daughter so I talk to him like ‘Oh what is she doing over here?’ and things like that. We created a bond on and off the court.”
After a strong performance on Tuesday, the Sixers are hoping that Robinson III can build off the performance and continue to grow in his role with the Sixers. It is absolutely important for him to continue to make plays and score off the team’s bench. They will need it when the playoffs start. [lawrence-related id=27057,27039,27023]
