In our last version of “Gimme Him” featuring the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2, we had the Tennessee Titans stealing rookie cornerback, C.J. Henderson, but this time around we’re looking for pass rush help.
At this point in the season, you have almost an equal chance of seeing Bigfoot as you do a Titans sack. Tennessee currently sits with the second-fewest sacks in the NFL with 14, and the lack of a pass rush once again reared its ugly head during the Week 13 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
To remedy that situation, we’re stealing second-year defensive end Josh Allen, whose rookie campaign was impressive to say the least after he notched 10.5 sacks and 23 QB hits in 2019, leading to a Pro Bowl nod.
The 2020 season has been a different story for Allen, who has battled a knee injury that has forced him to miss time. He’s currently on IR for at least one more week, but also missed a pair of games earlier in the season.
Even with the missed time, Allen’s 2.5 sacks are 2.5 more than what the Titans got out of their big free-agent edge rusher acquisitions, Jadeveon Clowney and Vic Beasley.
Furthermore, the Duke product’s 11 QB hits are nearly one-fifth of what the Titans have as a team.
Knee injury and all, the Titans would gladly take Allen in a heartbeat and wait for him to get healthy knowing that they could have one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers for the next decade.
