Gimme him: One player Titans would steal from Buccaneers

Shaun Calderon picks one player he would steal from the Buccaneers for the Titans.

There are some weeks when I do the “gimme him” article and I legitimately have to weigh my options as to who I would steal for the Tennessee Titans, while other times it’s relatively obvious. This week falls under the latter.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs has consistently been among the best players at his position since the moment he was drafted with the 13th pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

The Iowa product started his career on the right side before making the transition to left tackle prior to this season. Over his four years in Tampa, Wirfs has produced an overall grade no lower than 81.0, per Pro Football Focus.

Wirfs is as reliable as it gets, regardless of where you ask him to play. He has only allowed a combined five sacks over his entire career. To put that number in perspective, Titans tackle Andre Dillard has given up eight sacks this season alone.

The Buccaneers’ left tackle has yet to give up a single sack in his first year protecting the blindside and his consistency is a large reason why Baker Mayfield is having one of the best seasons of his career.

Tennessee will likely enter the offseason with left tackle once again being the team’s biggest need. The Titans can only hope that they’re able to eventually draft an offensive tackle who is close to being on Wirfs’ level.
