The Pittsburgh Steelers finally get their home opener when they welcome the Los Angeles Chargers to Acrisure Stadium on Sunday.
Here at Steelers Wire, we’re conducting a fun exercise where we hypothetically steal one player from the Chargers to help bolster this current roster.
Look at the Chargers offensive depth chart and one name immediately jumps out at you: J.K. Dobbins. He’s a familiar Baltimore Ravens foe signed by L.A. in free agency this spring.
The former second-round pick never could stay healthy, but when he was, he was a thorn in the side of Pittsburgh’s defense. In three matchups, Dobbins posted 326 yards rushing.
Dobbins currently leads the league in rushing with 266 yards on 27 attempts for a whopping 9.9 yards per attempt. Plugging him into the Steelers’ offense would certainly make it more competitive.
In reality, however, Dobbins poses a threat to Pittsburgh’s fourth-ranked run defense, a unit that’s allowed just 76.5 yards per game and zero touchdowns.
