The Rams lost a valuable member of their practice squad on Tuesday when the Giants signed DB J.R. Reed to their active roster. Reed will now spend at least three weeks on the Giants’ 53-man roster, or if he’s cut beforehand, he’ll still be paid for three weeks of being on the team.
Reed signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent last year out of Georgia. He was waived before the 2020 season began, signing to the Rams’ practice squad four days later. He was elevated to the game-day roster twice last season and once this year, in Week 2 against the Colts.
He has never taken a defensive snap in the regular season, however.
Other Giants transactions:
Waived — CB Josh Jackson and WR David Sills.
Signed — DB J.R. Reed off Rams practice squad.
Released — DT Woodrow Hamilton from practice squad
