G.G. Jackson calls South Carolina report as ‘rumors’

UNC basketball five-star commit G.G. Jackson has addressed the rumor that he could end up at South Carolina instead of Chapel Hill.

UNC basketball fans were sent into a panic on Sunday afternoon when a story from Jamie Shaw of On3 suggested that five-star recruit [autotag]G.G. Jackson[/autotag] could de-commit from UNC and eventually end up at South Carolina.

The story is behind a paywall but suggested that there’s a chance that Jackson could de-commit and join the Gamecocks instead. There was also talk of reclassifying to 2022 and playing right away. Whenever a report like that surfaces and there’s a long ways to go before signing day, there’s some reason to be concerned.

But now a day later, Jackson is addressing that report and called it “rumors” while appearing on Instagram live:

Okay, breathe now UNC fans.

Jackson coming out and saying it is indeed a rumor is a good sign for UNC fans right now. However, as I mentioned above there is a long ways until signing day and when a player sees his stock rise to being No. 1 like Jackson has, anything can happen. That’s especially true when there are people in your ear about staying in-state and going to that program as well.

Should we panic now? No. Not at all. Jackson is a Tar Heel and until that changes, there shouldn’t be much to worry about.
