National Signing Day has come and gone, and Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class is officially set. There were 25 total members (26, if you count North Carolina grad transfer tight end Carl Tucker) with talent across the board.
In order for fans to get to know the Crimson Tide’s newest players, we have laid out a “get to know them” article for each member.
Next up? Four-star, in-state running back Roydell Williams out of Hueytown High School.

Where does he fit in? Williams was the first running back to commit to Alabama back in Nov. of 2018. Kyle Edwards was later added, and most recently, Jace McClellan joined the stacked backfield on the first National Signing Day in December.
Najee Harris surprisingly returned to Alabama for his senior season to combine with Brian Robinson Jr. and Trey Sanders for the top three spots on the depth chart. Like with McClellan, that development unfortunately put a damper on Williams’ 2020 outlook.
There’s still a lot to like about Williams, however.
At 5-foot-10 and now carrying 207 pounds, he’s a compact player who gets behind his pads, plays a physical style but also shows other attractive traits for a running back. Williams can be utilized out of the backfield, whether that be as a receiver or in pass protection. That should help his chances of becoming a three-down player sometime in the future.
