Ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft, Miami Dolphins fans came to accept several key truths about their team. At some point, the team was going to target and acquire a new quarterback of the future. The team did that with the No. 5 overall selection, drafting Tua Tagovailoa. Another truth? The Dolphins were going to be invested in protecting that quarterback of the future and were likely to draft an offensive linemen with one of their two remaining 1st-round selections in order to best position that quarterback for success.
The Dolphins indeed did that, too. The Dolphins drafted USC offensive tackle with the No. 18 overall selection in this past April’s draft — providing Tagovailoa with an athletic blocker with plenty of ceiling to his game.
With any luck, Jackson and Tagovailoa will go on to become fixtures in Miami’s offense for the foreseeable future. A cornerstone left tackle and a star quarterback can go a long way in finding success on the field; and those three variables are something Miami hasn’t consistently had more than one of for quite some time.
But what do you know about Austin Jackson the person, Dolphins fans? Maybe you’ve heard the story of how he donated bone marrow to his sister to help save her life last summer? It’s hard to think of a more telling tale to summarize someone as a person. When considering what kind of variables Brian Flores, Chris Grier and the Miami Dolphins are looking for in their football players, it’s little surprise to now welcome Jackson as a new member of the team.
But beyond such a significant gift to his family, Dolphins fans can now get to know a little more about Jackson courtesy of the team’s social media account — which released a ‘QnA’ with Jackson earlier this month.
