1980 Sugar Bowl : Georgia 17, Notre Dame 10

UGA and Notre Dame first met on January 1, 1981, in the Sugar Bowl. Georgia, led by star freshman running back Herschel Walker with 150 yards on the ground, defeated Notre Dame 17-10 to claim the program’s first national championship.

2017: Georgia 20, Notre Dame 19

Their second meeting came over 35 years later, on September 9, 2017, in South Bend, Indiana. Georgia, with true freshman quarterback Jake Fromm making his first start, edged Notre Dame 20-19 in a thrilling game with a game-sealing sack by senior linebacker Davin Bellamy.

2019: Georgia 23, Notre Dame 17

The most recent matchup between Georgia and Notre Dame was on September 21, 2019, in Athens, Georgia. UGA secured a 23-17 victory in front of a raucous home crowd at Sanford Stadium.
