Georgia transfer WR commits to SEC school

Georgia Bulldogs sophomore WR commits to Mississippi State

Georgia Bulldogs sophomore wide receiver Anthony Evans III announced his intention to transfer to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Evans was a four-star recruit from the class of 2023 when he signed with the Georgia Bulldogs. He played sporadically for the UGA offense, but held a significant special teams role.

In two seasons with Georgia, Evans totaled 123 yards and a touchdown on 13 receptions. Coincidentally, his best game came against Mississippi State, when he caught four passes for 41 yards and ran a great end-around rush for 52 yards. Evans is a speedster and served as Georgia’s primary punt returner in 2024.

Evans joined fellow Georgia receivers Michael Jackson III and Rara Thomas in entering the transfer portal this offseason. Neither of the other two have found a new team, but Georgia will face Evans and Mississippi State in Week 11 of the 2025 college football season.

Georgia has done well to replace all of the wide receivers either transferring or declaring for the 2025 NFL draft. They landed the No. 4 transfer portal recruit in Zachariah Branch from USC, Noah Thomas from Texas A&M and Micah Bell, Dillon Bell‘s brother, from Vanderbilt.
