Georgia sits atop preseason AP Poll ahead of 2023 season

Coming off back-to-back national championships, the Georgia Bulldogs lead the way in the Associated Press’s preseason top 25.

The Georgia Bulldogs, coming off back-to-back national championships, are the nation’s top team heading into the 2023 season, according to the Associated Press preseason poll.

This is just the second time the Bulldogs have been ranked as the preseason No. 1 team in the country. The only other season the program was ranked No. 1 in the country to start the season was the 2008 season. The Bulldogs that season under head coach Mark Richt were 10-3, including 6-2 in SEC play, before winning the Capital One Bowl over Michigan State.

Also in the top five in the AP Poll were the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. While Alabama and LSU rounded out the top five.

Of 63 total votes, Georgia received 60 first-place votes, Michigan received two, and Ohio State received one.

You know who the top five teams in the country are, but what other 20 programs fill out the AP Poll’s top 25? Where do USC, Washington, Oregon, and UCLA rank in their final AP Poll as part of the Pac-12? Do AP voters believe Texas is back? Can schools coming off down seasons like Oklahoma and Wisconsin crack the first top 25 of the season?
