Georgia leads Vols at halftime

Georgia leads Tennessee 24-10 at halftime.

After opening an early lead, Tennessee has surrendered 17 unanswered points to No. 1 Georgia.

The Bulldogs have a 24-10 lead at halftime.

Georgia was able to keep the Vols off the scoreboard in the second quarter. the Bulldogs scored 17 points, including a touchdown just before halftime when Stetson Bennett IV connected with James Cook on a 23-yard pass with 17 seconds left.

The Volunteers scored first when Hendon Hooker connected on a 9-yard scoring pass to Velus Jones Jr. Chase McGrath added the extra point with 11:43 remaining in the first quarter.

Georgia answered a short time later when James Cook scored on a run from 29 yards out.

The Vols took a 10-7 lead late in the first quarter when McGrath made a 24-yard field goal.

In the second quarter, the Bulldogs pulled even when Jack Podlesney kicked a 40-yard field goal with 9:42 remaining in the first half.

Bennett IV gave Georgia the lead with a 9-yard scoring run at the 7:24 mark.

Georgia will get the ball to open the second half.
