College Sports Wire compiled what the composite preseason top 25 would look like by combining the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll and AP poll.
The top two teams on both polls were the same. Both polls have the same top four teams with a difference in ranking between Alabama and Ohio State. The LSU Tigers match the Georgia Bulldogs and Michigan Wolverines as all three hold the same ranking in both polls.
Only two teams were mentioned in one poll and not the other. Texas Tech was ranked No. 24 in the coaches poll but didn’t appear in the AP poll. The Iowa Hawkeyes were ranked No. 25 in the AP poll but they missed out on the coaches poll. If this was a top 26 poll, the Hawkeyes would land in that slot.
With college football season just weeks away, here is how the composite rankings land. Ties are listed in alphabetical order.
