Georgia football injury report for matchup at South Carolina

Full Georgia football injury report ahead of Game 8 matchup at South Carolina.

We are just moments away from kicking off game eight of Georgia’s college football season in Columbia, South Carolina.  Tonight’s matchup features the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs (5-2, 5-2) taking on the unranked South Carolina Gamecocks (2-6, 2-6).

The last time these two teams met, the Gamecocks essentially ended Georgia’s hopes and dreams for 2019.  South Carolina pulled off a huge 20-17 double overtime upset in Sanford Stadium that left Bulldog fans with their jaws in the hedges.

The Dawgs now seek revenge in Columbia, facing off against former Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, who is serving as South Carolina’s interim head coach since the firing of Will Muschamp nearly two weeks ago.

Georgia will most likely need to win out if they want any shot of jumping Florida for the SEC East tile and a shot at the SEC Championship.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 P.M. ET on SEC Network.

Here is a look at Georgia’s injuries going into tonight’s matchup.

Monty Rice has been the leader of the Georgia defense so far this season.  Rice has been battling a foot injury that has been bugging him for nearly a month now.  Head coach Kirby Smart made it very clear that Rice has been sitting out practices Monday-Wednesday in order to be rested on Saturdays.  Expect to see Rice out there tonight, even if he has limited reps.

Davis is still recovering from an elbow injury he suffered against Kentucky.  He did not travel with the team to Jacksonville and will most likely miss his third straight game tonight.

Wide receiver Tommy Bush has been dealing with an unknown injury that has forced him to miss a good chunk of the preseason and all of 2020.  Reports of a hit-and-run car accident have surfaced and Bush is listed with a concussion. Bush is a very talented receiver that can’t seem to catch a break with injuries. He was sidelined for the majority of last season dealing with a sports hernia. Bush is listed as doubtful against South Carolina.

Marshall has been dealing with a shoulder injury since Week One.  He underwent surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2020 season.

On a 32-yard touchdown reception against Florida, Rosemy-Jacksaint was tackled around his lower leg and suffered a dislocated ankle. He had surgery two days later and is listed as out for the remainder of the 2020 season.

The freshman phenom Kendall Milton suffered a sprained knee in the Dawgs’ loss to Florida.  Milton is listed as out against South Carolina but Smart says he will be back in the coming weeks.

Rochester simply can’t catch a break.  After tearing an ACL late in the 2018 season, he finally made a recovery for the beginning of this season.  Unfortunately he went down with another ACL tear during the Kentucky game and will be out for the remainder of the year.

LeCounte is still nursing back to health after being involved in a motorbiking accident following the Kentucky game.  LeCounte thankfully only suffered a concussion and bruised ribs, as it could have been much worse.  LeCounte has been a force in the secondary prior to his injury.  The Dawgs are hoping to have him back as soon as possible.

Wide receiver Dominick Blaylock went down with an ACL tear during preseason camp. Blaylock injured the same knee he hurt in the 2019 SEC Championship game against LSU. The sophomore was just getting back to full health when he devastatingly injured it again. This is a huge hit to the Bulldogs passing game for 2020.

The No. 1 cornerback in the 2020 recruiting class, Kelee Ringo, underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum before preseason camp. The injury will force him to miss all of 2020, a tough loss for the Bulldogs. Georgia luckily has lots of depth at the position and will be alright defending the pass game without him.
