Georgia, Alabama hold steady in new CFP rankings while Ohio State joins top four

Michigan State drops behind Michigan and Cincinnati’s playoff hopes stay alive.

The College Football Playoff released the second iteration of their rankings on Tuesday night, and there was some movement this week. Georgia stayed in the No. 1 spot, followed by No. 2 Alabama also staying steady. Oregon bumped up one spot to No. 3, and No. 4 Ohio State jumped into the spot vacated by Michigan State losing to Purdue.

Cincinnati, which had a case for being massively snubbed at No. 6 last week, moved up a spot to No. 5 despite a lackluster win over Tulsa. Wake Forest wasted an opportunity to vault into the top four with a non-conference loss to North Carolina, falling to No. 12.
